Police investigating Ireland's longest missing person case have arrested a man.
The 64-year-old is being held for the alleged kidnapping of Mary Boyle, who was six when she disappeared in March 1977.
He is being held at Mullingar police station in County Westmeath and can be detained for up to 24 hours.
Mary went missing from near her grandparents' home in Cashelard, Ballyshannon, in County Donegal, on 18 March.
She and her siblings had been on a family trip with their parents to visit their grandparents.
A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for anyone with any information on the circumstances around Mary's disappearance to contact us.
"Even something that people may have thought was insignificant at the time could help us advance the continuing investigation."
